“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
On Easter we will do a lot of giving. We will give out candy, Easter baskets full of goodies, and some of us, who are still a little weird, will give out hard boiled eggs because kids love those, right?
As good as our gifts will be this Easter they will never compare to what God gave us: the gift of his son. John 3:16 says, “For this is how God loved the world: he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
So what’s Easter all about? It’s all about God loving you. Loving you so much that he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for you so that your sins would be forgiven and you would have a home in heaven.
What’s amazing about God’s love is that he loves us even when we’re messed up. Romans 5:8 says, “God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
Do you know what that means? It means God doesn’t expect you to be perfect. You don’t have to fix yourself before you come to Jesus. You can just come as you are because he loves you just like you are.
The only thing we have to do is receive the wonderful gift of Jesus. The Bible tells us how in Romans 10:9-10 when it says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” It’s that simple!
It doesn’t matter what you give or get in your Easter basket. Remember, the greatest gifts always come from God. He loves you that much!
Live on purpose,
