Have you ever been somewhere a hundred times but it wasn’t until the one hundred and first time you noticed something you hadn’t seen before? Well, that’s exactly what happened to me the other day at the beach.
I was standing at an outlook point overlooking the ocean when it seemed like the ocean came alive. It wasn’t doing anything different than it normally does. But this time it seemed like the sea was breathing, like it was alive. And every wave that came in and out was another breath. It was almost as if I could feel it living.
I couldn’t help being amazed and wondering how long the ocean has been there and if it could speak what would it tell us about God’s amazing power. With as long as it has been there I’m sure it would have something to tell us. It’s been there from the beginning so I am sure it’s seen a few things.
Since the foundations of the earth the water that makes up the ocean was part of God’s original design. It was there when God filled it with sea creatures. It was there when God gave it boundaries on the land. It was there when God made the very first wave crash upon the sand.
I realized that it has first hand knowledge of how great and awesome God really is. I stood there amazed that God created the ocean so I could see his glory. And, yet, with all the wonderful things God has created; it’s you and me that he has chosen for himself. It’s you and me that he want’s a personal relationship with. It’s you and me that he sent his Son to die for.
Scripture says; “The Sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over…” (Psalms 95:5-7)
This tells me that if the ocean could speak it would tell us to worship him, our maker.
